While grass, sand, water, snow, wood and dirty streets have all been used as a medium for advertising, now there's yet another option for unconventional marketers: soap foam mixed with lighter-than-air gasses such as helium to create flying logos! These cool stuff is 100 % Green and environment friendly.
In the late 1990's, two international special effects inventors,Francisco Guerra and Brian Glover, wondered what would happen if we could make clouds into shapes. What if we can make logos? SnowMasters research and development facility in northern Alabama became the home of what is now known as Flogos (Flying Logos).
They are synthesized from proprietary surfactant (soap) based foam formulations and lighter-than-air gases such as helium and designed to last for as long as their visual impact is needed. Specific formulations are available to provide a life expectancy of a few minutes to an hour or so. The visual impact also greatly depends on atmospheric conditions such as wind and relative humidity.
Available in 12-, 36- and 48-inch sizes, Flogos can travel up to 30 miles and float as high as 5,000 feet, depending on their formulation. Most last from 30 to 40 minutes, after which time they evaporate without a trace, making them completely environmentally friendly, the company says. Flogos customers have included Lindt chocolates, the California Angels, Disney World, Mercedes-Benz and Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, to name just a few. The company has also expanded into 18 offices worldwide, with new locations including China, Japan, Singapore, Mexico, Turkey, England, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Israel, Africa, Australia and Canada.
These flying logos are created for advertising and promotions for private and public industry. They are generated outside a great majority of the time, but can be created indoors as well, in places like sports arenas, domes, etc., due to the non-existent toxicity, low concentration of reagents in the diluted form, and residue free decomposition. These creations are Green and 100% environmentally safe.
In addition to providing a novel way to break through the advertising clutter, Flogos also mesh nicely with the trend toward "eco-vertising" and other environmentally sustainable approaches. Could be a fun one to partner with—the sky's the limit on the possibilities!
